S.T.E.A.M. Instructors/Facilitators NEEDED

We require a sample lesson plan of a fun interactive STEAM activity that you would like to facilitate during a four (4) hour class workshop.  Each 45 minute interval will include a 5 to 15 minute break during each hour long session. Please include the specific grade and/or age level you are most comfortable working with in providing this instruction.

Y.A.S.A. is currently offering “Weekend Warrior Programs” for first through eighth grades that allows each child to obtain a hands-on, interactive opportunity to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Design and Math in a fun and exciting environment, with an emphasis on FUN.  We are seeking Independent Contractors that are Certified Teachers, Small Business Owners, or individuals that hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a STEAM subject looking for a unique opportunity to foster growth and self-esteem while facilitating courses to young learners interested in  various S.T.E.A.M. disciplines.

As an Independent Contractor, the Instructor/Facilitator will determine how often they would like to teach and be able to provide input in the development of course content to Y.A.S.A. students.  The Instructor/Facilitator must be flexible as to location as we have workshops within various metro Atlanta locations.  Our courses are offered two Saturdays per month, each session lasting four hours.

Currently, we have openings for outstanding educators to work with students grades first through eighth in the following areas:

  • App Development
  • Web Coding (using ALICE, LearnToMod, Python and SCRATCH)
  • Web Design
  • Art and Innovative Design
  • Engineering
  • Robotics (using Legos, Mindstorm)
  • Math (fun, interactive math concepts and games utilizing various STEM concepts)

Employment Type:   Contract

Compensation:        Negotiable depending on certifications and/or experience

Essential Job Functions:

  • Deliver oral presentation introducing students to grade appropriate S.T.E.A.M. concepts.
  • STEAM knowledge or experience is required.
  • Ability to write a comprehensive lesson plan regarding course deliverables.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages student interaction and collaboration.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of course content based on the Instructors area of expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience in facilitating student enrichment projects and programs;
  • Be computer literate;
  • Have a strong commitment to working in a child centered learning environment;
  • Bi-Lingual is a Plus;
  • Mandatory background checks required
